Kitchen help for quick pick-me-up.
When you open your fridge throughout the day and take inventory of its contents the last thing you are probably thinking of is skin care. However, there are numerous items hiding in there that not only enhance your food but can also enhance your skin. Most women know that mayonnaise and eggs are good for their skin and hair, but there is a whole slew of other products sitting in your refrigerator that can offer a much needed pick me up, exfoliate your skin and even unclog your pores. Why spend thousands of dollars at the department store when you can simply use what you already have and it can be done at midnight.
Besides these have far less chemicals and taste much better if you accidentally get some in your mouth.
Face Mask
Avocado isn’t just for guacamole, it also has loads of benefits not just for your body but also for your skin. Avocados are high in healthy fats, help relieve symptoms of arthritis, prevent cancer, and their powerful antioxidants can protect your eyes. Avocado oil is patented to treat some forms of dermatitis and arthritis. Avocado oil soothes deep muscle inflammation. According to ‘The Encycloepedia of Medicinal Plants’ by Andrew Chevallier “The expressed oil of the avocado seed nourishes and maintains skin tone. It softens, rough, dry, or flaking skin and, massaged in to the scalp, improves half growth. Avocado is very nutritious and makes an excellent baby food. Indigenous to Central America, avocado is widely cultivated for its fruit in tropical and subtropical areas, including Israel, and the unripe fruit is picked with fully grown. “
Did you know honey never spoils? It doesn’t. If it gets hard just stick it in the microwave for a little bit. However, not only is it delicious but it can do wonders for your skin. It is excellent for acne, fat burning, age spots, reducing pimples, stress relief, and hair loss.
Try this mask when your face needs some extra nourishment.

Acne Spot Treatment
There is nothing more frustrating than having a big night coming up and see a nice big red pimple right in the middle of your forehead. What can you do? Here is an acne treatment that will help out with that nasty blemish.
Blast that blemish
Brewer’s Yeast
A squeeze of lemon juice
Water

Make a paste using a little bit of the brewer’s yeast, a squeeze of the lemon juice, and a little bit of the water. Apply the paste right on your blemish and leave it for 10 minutes. Cover with a bandage.
Hand Exfoliator
Every winter our hands are exposed to a barrage of cold, wet, nasty weather. Before we know it our hands are cracked, dry and it hurts to use them. No matter how much lotion we use we can’t seem to bring them back to life. Little do we know that our salvation lies just within our refrigerator.
Nuts N Honey Exfoliator
1 ounce ground almonds
1 tsp clear honey
2 tsp walnut or sunflower oil
1 tsp lemon juice
Directions:
Mix all the ingredients together into a thick paste.
Take a heaping teaspoon and rub it all over your hands for two to three minutes. Rinse off. Use whenever your hands need some extra love.
Face Exfoliator
Our faces take a beating every day. With the sun, makeup, and winter constantly trying to steal away our youth we are on a constant mission to find that miracle cure. Sometimes the best cure is to just rid our faces of the dead skin to reveal the beautiful skin underneath it all.
Cream and Sugar Scrub
3 tablespoons of fresh cream
1 cup of white sugar
½ cup of brown sugar
½ cup of ground almonds
2 tablespoons olive oil
Directions:
Mix all ingredients well. Apply to dry face in a circular motion. Wash your face off with warm water, followed by cold water. Pat your face dry. Place in a jar and store in your refrigerator for future use.
Milk Does A Face Good Too
They say milk does a body good, but it can also do wonders for your skin without even drinking it. Start by heating some milk in a pot to its boiling point and then emptying it into a heated bowl. Cover your head with a towel and place it over the bowl. Enjoy the steaming cleanse and flawless skin that this will create for you.
Face Perk Up
Oatmeal has long been known to help people with eczema but it can also be an amazing pick me up.
Sunny Honey Pick Me Up
½ cup hot water
1/3 cup oatmeal
2 tablespoons plain yogurt
2 tablespoons honey
1 small egg white
Directions:
Mix the hot water and oatmeal. Allow to set for 2-3 minutes. Then mix in the yogurt, honey and egg white. Apply a thin layer of the mask to your face and let it sit for 10-15 minutes. Rinse off with warm water. When rinsing off it is wise to rinse off over a colander or a sink with a garbage disposal so that you do not have a large mess in your sink.
Skin Discoloration
Skin discoloration can be a big problem as we age. Drug stores make big money with their skin lighteners. However, many contain hydroquinone or mercury, which kill melanin-making cells. When this is consumed in high doses over time it can potentially lead to mercury poisoning. There is a much safer way to handle this problem at home.
Greek Goddess
Mix lemon juice and Greek yogurt. Apply the mask as a spot treatment to the discolored areas or apply to your entire face.
Too often we look to the drugstore and makeup companies for the answers. Years ago women had to rely on homeopathic remedies for skin care problems. We hope that some of these tips help you with any skin care issues you may have. And...... did we make you hungry yet?
